The country Tom MacDonald pivot no one asked for...

Last Friday, Tom MacDonald dropped another song, this time titled 'Remember Who You Are'. It might be deja vu, but it feels like I've heard this song over a million times before.  I don't think there's much I can say for this one that the track doesn’t already inflict upon the listener itself. The song opens with a soft, generic acoustic guitar loop, quickly paired with MacDonald's dreadful, monotone singing voice. It is an immediate red flag. This represents a notable, if entirely unearned, pivot from his usual sonic palette—which generally consists of dated, plastic synths that should have been left behind in the mid-2000s and cheap-sounding Soundtrap trap beats. From this sparse opening, the track escalates in typical, modern country-pop fashion. It lean heavily on the dreaded "stomp-clap" rhythm, an absolute, overused essential of the corporate radio genre. Cool1778% plans to release new electronic single 'Silence Awaits' on the 14th March.

  Silence does indeed wait for the 14th of March This is technically a punk rock blog, but I was in the mood to write about some electronic music. Cool1778%, everyone's fav producer is coming out with a new single on the 14th of March. Titled 'Silence Awaits', this new track seems to be a chiller, less violent song than most of his discography, including the Electro Bootleg album which was released earlier this year. Rock Resurrection release new single 'Right Next To Me' and it rocks!

    Right Next To Me - Rock Resurrection I know I'm a month or two late with this one, but c'mon cut me some slack. One of my absolute favourite bands in the modern punk scene dropped an absolute banger, and it's called Right Next To Me. Unlike earlier Rock Resurrection songs, this is the first one with lyrics and decent production. Well, half decent. The drums have so much reverb that they sound like they were recorded in the shower. And the bass is a little bit light. But all in all, a remarkable step up from the production on the previous single 'Systems Override', which sounds like a live recording. As for the song, it's an absolute banger. Oliver Mackie's emotional, raw lyrics and vocals really shine through. The energy is top-notch, and I can really see this working really well live. The guitar solos are derivative of The Offspring's signature minor solos, but they flawlessly blend into the song, providing a cushiony transition between sections.  B...
